Exquisite Hilltop Residence
Miramar, Wellington
Refined elegance in a contemporary setting
A refined monochrome sanctuary overlooking Wellington Harbour.
Perched high in Miramar Heights with sweeping harbour views, this home offered an extraordinary setting. Yet the abundance of natural light often required blinds to be drawn, limiting both comfort and connection to the outlook.
A key focus of the design was to resolve this challenge. Bespoke shutters were introduced to softly regulate light and heat while preserving the view—enhancing both liveability and the home’s refined aesthetic.
While the kitchen, bathrooms, and flooring had already been renovated, our role was to bring cohesion and depth to the interiors—creating a seamless and considered design throughout.
The transformation centred on a complete furniture and interior fit-out across the entrance, family living areas, TV space, and formal lounge, thoughtfully incorporating existing dining furniture.
A sophisticated monochrome palette was layered with rich textures, sculptural forms, and refined detailing—creating a home that feels both elegant and deeply personal.
Bespoke furniture, rugs, and soft furnishings—proudly made in New Zealand—sit alongside carefully selected pieces from BoConcept.
A contemporary landscape painting was commissioned from New Zealand artist Jody Hope Gibbons, complemented by curated works sourced through Mobile Art Gallery. Each element was intentionally chosen to elevate the space while maintaining a quiet, understated sense of luxury.
The result is a home that feels calm, cohesive, and beautifully resolved—transforming a house into a true sanctuary.
REVIEW
“We live in a large house with wonderful views and a lot of sun, however, we lived in a house, not a home. We thought we could try and make it a beautiful home, but we did not have a clue as to what we were doing, to the point that we seriously considered selling it. Then we were referred to Sandy. We looked at her work online and decided to contact her as this was the direction we wanted to go within terms of design and style. From the initial consultation, we felt very comfortable dealing with Sandy, whom we found to be very accommodating, professional and extremely talented. Over the last 12 months, we have worked with Sandy to furnish and style our lounge and large open plan living areas. We would highly recommend Sandy as she was a pleasure to work with and has successfully fulfilled our vision. Her choice of timeless furniture, fabrics and art, flow beautifully throughout the house and the shutters she suggested are perfect in so far as that one can regulate the heat coming into the house and they also look amazing! We love the final outcome and recommend Sandy to anyone!”
