Luxurious Farm House

Carterton, Wairarapa

Glamorous aesthetic in a country location

A refined country residence, where timeless farmhouse living meets understated glamour.

Set within the Wairarapa landscape, this modern farmhouse was designed to embody a sense of relaxed country living, elevated through a sophisticated and glamorous aesthetic.

The brief was to create an elegant and refined interior that would complement the home’s rural setting, while introducing a sense of luxury, depth, and cohesion throughout.

Working across the entire home—including the kitchen, living areas, bedrooms, study, and self-contained accommodation—we developed a considered design that balances comfort with sophistication.

A monochrome palette of soft creams and deep blacks forms the foundation of the interior, layered with rich textures and refined materials to create depth and visual interest. Velvet fabrics, custom-designed rugs, and carefully selected finishes bring warmth and tactility, while accents of black glass and chrome introduce a subtle sense of glamour.

Throughout the home, bespoke furniture and custom-designed pieces—including sofas, cushions, rugs, and statement tables—were created to ensure a cohesive and highly resolved result, tailored specifically to the scale and character of the space.

The result is a luxurious yet welcoming farmhouse—elegant, layered, and deeply considered—where country living is reimagined with a refined, contemporary edge.

REVIEW
"We approached Sandra and her brief was to provide an elegant sophisticated interior for our home in the Wairarapa. She has worked with us over a period of eighteen months and we have found Sandy to be very accommodating with our requirements for the interior. She has achieved a high level of interior design which included the design of the furniture, carpet selection, colors of interiors, rugs, and finishing pieces. The project included the lounge, dining, kitchen, bedrooms, study and self-contained
accommodation. We highly recommend Sandra Aiken”.
