Plantation Style

Mt Eden, Auckland

One of Auckland’s inner-city treasures, home to an active family

BRIEF

Make better use of the conservatory and separate living space previously used as dining room/playroom/ exercise room. Also use as much of the existing furniture as possible.

OUTCOME

The existing dark oak furniture, trunk coffee table and the special inherited colonial style side board were the inspirational pieces for the plantation style concept for this villa. New carpet was laid throughout the house, new wooden flooring was laid on top of the existing tired wooden floorboards and previous renovations were respected. A family hangout/games room was created in the unused conservatory to create new family
memories and the previous formal dining room was transformed into an extra living space with growing kids into teens in mind. Refurbishing the existing furniture with long-lasting indoor outdoor fabric, for longevity.

REVIEW
"It’s little things that make a big difference and most importantly give positive design impact. Sandy was instrumental in sourcing and recommending well chosen elements that connect our
different living spaces and create a feeling of “ahhhhh.”
It’s not one thing, it’s the whole package of colors, comfort, charm, textures and clever positioning. Sandy has oodles of skill. She does the hard work for you!"
